Apple Nachos are my kid’s favorite after school. We also like to eat them as a night dessert.
These fruit chips are also great for entertaining a crowd. Alongside our traditional Super Tasty Nachos, I make a plate of Healthy Apple Nachos for the tailgate and game day snack.
I use semi-sweet chocolate drizzle. But you can use peanut butter, caramel, melted marshmallows, chocolate chips, nuts and seeds, and even sprinkles.
HOME MADE DULCE DE LECHE
I often keep our favorite jar of Instant Pot Dulce de Leche in the fridge. This sauce works great for a drizzle and for dipping apples. Check out our easy recipe on how to make it.
Since nachos are all about layers, I like to add some chocolate sauce, chocolate chips, and grated coconut on top. But obviously, you can use as many ingredients as you choose and easily obtain.
The beauty of this simple dish is that you can decorate it very quickly. Just add some colorful festive sprinkles and voila!
Easily turns into a fall dessert, Halloween treat, Thanksgiving dinner, or Christmas dessert. Healthy and nutrient-rich goodness!
HOW TO PREVENT Sliced Apples From Turning Brown?
The best way to prevent apple slices from oxidizing and turning black is to toss 1-2 tablespoons of them in a bowl of mixed ice water. lemon juice. You can also use vinegar, some baking soda or Fruit-Fresh to control browning.
This makes them crunchy and looking nice and fresh! If you plan to eat it right after you make it, you can skip the step and just arrange the freshly cut slices. If you’re planning to serve it for a party, I recommend soaking it in ice water as brown apples aren’t visually appealing.
Regardless, I don’t recommend storing them sliced for too long. Fresh cut is always best and crunchy.
WHAT MATERIALS CAN BE USED FOR APPLE NACHOS?
Apple chips are fun because the decorating possibilities are endless. Some of our favourites:
- caramel sauce
- Dulce de Leche
- marshmallow
- pumpkin spice
- Raisins, chopped dates
- Seeds – pumpkin, chia, hemp or sunflower
- Nuts – chopped almonds, walnuts or walnuts
- crushed candy bars
- Gaseous
- Dusting of sea salt crystals
WHAT KIND OF APPLE DO YOU USE?
I prefer to use slightly sour apples like Granny Smith. Honey Crisp, Gala, or Fuji strains also work. Use both red and green apples to make them colorful and fancy, and swap the slices for a beautiful presentation. It also provides a nice balance between tart and sweet taste.

This recipe should be served immediately after it is made. Apples will stay fresher and taste crunchy. If you want to store it, wrap plastic wrap around the plate and leave it in the refrigerator for a maximum of 2 hours.
