Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough
-
Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
-
In a large bowl, whisk together:
-
Flour
-
Baking powder
-
Baking soda
-
Salt
-
Sugar
-
Add the cold cubed butter.
-
Cut the butter into the flour using your fingers or a pastry cutter
until the texture looks like coarse crumbs.
2. Add Buttermilk
-
Pour in the cold buttermilk.
-
Stir gently until the dough comes together — do not overmix.
3. Shape the Biscuits
-
Turn the dough onto a floured surface.
-
Gently fold it over itself 3–4 times (this creates flaky layers).
-
Pat it out to about 2–3 cm thickness.
-
Cut out biscuits using a round cutter or a drinking glass.
-
Place biscuits on a baking sheet, touching each other slightly (helps them rise).
4. Bake
-
Brush the tops with melted butter.
-
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown.
5. Make the Honey Butter
-
Mix melted butter and honey in a small bowl.
-
Brush the warm biscuits generously right after baking.
6. Serve
Serve warm with extra honey butter or jam.
Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or next to fried chicken!
